What is THAT?!?!
As many people may have heard in the news over the past couple of years, there have been reports of an animal being spotted that could not be identified. The animal was first spotted in a little town outside of Victoria, Texas called Cuero.
These new animals were being reported as looking like the mythical creature, the Chupacabra.
The Chupacabra comes from Latin American folklore as a blood sucking creature said to suck the blood out of unsuspecting farm animals. Of course no proof was ever found that accredited these claims.
Well a few years ago in Cuero, Texas a video surfaced of a creature described as a Chupacabra running across a gravel road. Soon after the video was circulated through the media, it was reported that a few of these creatures had been killed by ranch owners in Cuero.
Many people have discredited these animals as mangy coyotes or dogs but there is still some room for debate. Seeing as most legends are based on some basis of truth, could it be possible that the mythical Chupacabra exists and has invaded Texas?
I personally love the idea of creatures thought to be legend like the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot or Mermaids turning out to be true or at least a new misidentified creature. So why is it so far fetched that the Chupacabra which has been getting numerous sightings over West and South Texas turn out to be a new breed of dog or coyote?
In the picture I have posted above you will see an animal leaning against a tree looking up at a raccoon. My parents recently acquired 22 acres in Kirbyville, Texas about 3 hours east of Houston. They put up a game camera soon after purchasing the land to see if they could catch some pictures of deer. They were surprised and puzzled by this imagine of what they could not identify. After studying the picture I came to the conclusion that it resembled the animal being reported as a Chupacabra in other areas of Texas.
To date this is the furthest East in Texas that i have encountered a picture of a"Chupacabra'' being taken. Could it be that this really is a new species of coyote of dog originating near the Texas-Mexico border. And could it also be possible that it has started migrating further and further into Texas and the United States? I guess only time and more evidence will tell.
This being my first post i would like to say thanks for reading and watch my blog for more posts coming weekly!
As always feel free to comment on this blog or give testimony of your own ''Chupacabra" sightings!
God Bless,
L. Crain
